Owen's Ordinary

Owen's Ordinary was a brand new restaurant built in the booming Pike District in North Bethesda. My goal was to create lighting that could both fill the large spaces but also add a degree of coziness and intimacy to the smaller areas. I relied on my love of steampunk design to inspire the fixtures in the lobby, bar and dining rooms

Behind the hostess stand, we used old wooden factory boxes to add texture to the space and hung one of 2 fixtures that were made from a shell of a studio light from Disney. The bar lights were built to attach to the tables so provide an intimate setting for small groups. In the main dining area, I used pulleys, ceramic insulators and chrome ice buckets to create a 15ft. installation. Finally, the booth sconces featured photographic slide carousels
